PREAMBLE

This calendar started as a local initiative. Since then its primary
distribution has increased dramatically, and its secondary (etc)
distribution even more so. I would like to thank all those who supply
information, and hope this calendar continues to be useful to the
recipients. Of course, I can accept no liability for mis-information;
this calendar relies on the help of the community.

If anyone wants to supply information, please send to me by e-mail, and
preferably in a format something like the existing entries (to save
editing effort!). Contact address is at the end of this document.

`Database' is interpreted widely to cover office systems,
decision-support, information retrieval, database systems,
object-orientation, knowledge-based systems, systems engineering, expert
systems, artificial intelligence and many other associated topics.

For further information on any conference, please try to contact the
organizers. If that is difficult try the parent body (eg ACM, IEEE) or
one of the trustees of the appropriate endowment or committee (VLDB,
EDBT, CAiSE, SIGMOD). In desperation contact me, and I will try to help!
