Join SIGMOD

SIGMOD is the ACM community for data management: researchers, engineers, practitioners and students who build and study the systems, theory and tools for managing data. Membership keeps that community running.

Join SIGMOD at ACM

You can join SIGMOD without being an ACM member. Membership is renewed each year through ACM.

Why join?

SIGMOD sponsors the annual SIGMOD/PODS conference, publishes PACMMOD and SIGMOD Record, recognises the field's best work through its awards, and supports students and early-career researchers. All of it is organised by volunteers and funded in part by members. Joining is the simplest way to support the community and to have a say in it.

Benefits of membership

  • SIGMOD Record, the quarterly bulletin of the community, and access to SIGMOD content in the ACM Digital Library.
  • Reduced registration at the SIGMOD/PODS conference and at other events sponsored by or held in cooperation with SIGMOD.
  • A voice in SIGMOD: members elect the SIGMOD officers and can volunteer for committees, reviewing and organising.
  • Community news about calls for papers, awards and nominations, and events.

See Membership for the full list.

For students

Student membership is available at a reduced rate. Student members are eligible for SIGMOD awards, such as the Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award, and for student travel grants to attend the SIGMOD/PODS conference. Calls for travel grants are posted on each year's conference website.

How do I join?

  • Join SIGMOD online through ACM. Choose student membership if you are a student.
  • Consider joining ACM as well. ACM members get SIGMOD membership at the member rate, plus ACM's own benefits.
  • Questions about membership or renewals go to ACM Member Services.
